For a new network marketer this “sell Scentsy by selling your leadership” idea is alien. That’s okay. We all went through it at first.

Have you ever wondered how so many of the successful people who walk across the stage at your conventions are able to build such a big team?

It’s not difficult. It really has to do with the kind of credibility that they already had before they started their business.

They sell Scentsy by using their credibility and run with the fact that people are following them and they don’t understand exactly why so they can’t teach it.

Think about it for just a minute. If you could choose to align yourself with someone who has been in the business for 3 weeks and has no credibility in business, and someone who has been in business for 3 weeks who has some experience in business under their belt… who would you want to join?

Now, please don’t get down on yourself if you’re the one who’s got no credibility. I’m about to give you some ideas that are going to help.

It’s going to be an ear full, (Eye full? *wink*) and you can either go away from reading this article with a whole new perspective and change/improve your business practices – or you can ignore me and see how it goes. Either way is okay. I just want to see you succeed. *wink*

In order to illustrate this in a way that I think makes complete sense I have to help you look at it from the wrong way first so you don’t get confused. So, keep in mind that I’m not thrashing Scentsy. I’m simply thrashing the training that every single mlm out there is pushing-– but I’m going to show you how to fix it for yourself as I go.

Your team, regional, and national trainings are teaching you to lead with the product, right? Right. It’s all about parties and you give a half-hearted, even embarrassed “sell Scentsy products too” schpeal at the end to try to get some team-mates.

So, that’s the wrong way. Yeah, it sells some product, but the quality of recruits you get from that approach are not usually great, and you’re always running yourself ragged trying to get that next party so you get make your money because it’s all based on your own personal product sales, rather than a big group of people sharing the load of a just enough every month.

To really sell Scentsy you’ve got to let go of that entire way of thinking.

If you like the process and it’s working for you then go ahead and keep doing it. This article is for someone else if you see yourself doing the process I just described over and over again for the rest of your Scentsy life.

Personally (and I’m not alone) I can’t stand the thought of not retiring someday. And because I know you get cut off for inactivity in your company what I propose should save you from that too, if you choose to stick with the compensation plan you’re working with now.

So how do you make a leader of yourself so that you can sell your leadership?

It’s pretty simple. This is business. You need to learn to be a business person.

People will want to follow you because you know about business – not because you know how to spew lots of Scentsy information. You’ll see that if you gain the right knowledge and start teaching it on the internet you’ll have lots of network marketing friendly people come your way.

Some of them may want to join you – and some of them will just be passing by. Either way, if you prove yourself valuable and offer a system that anyone can follow if they join your team, you’ll start building a downline.

So, I propose you jot down a new expansion plan.

How to sell Scentsy – Tip of the Day:

  • Stop trying to do lots of parties. Just do your own personal party every 3 months and qualify.
  • Teach your team to do the same.
  • Focus on recruiting business minded people (who will be drawn to your educational information) and work with only them! (I’m not talking about being a snob. I’m just talking about working with the people who want to build a business. You won’t have to twist their arms.)
  • Stop dinking around and make an empress (emperor?) out of yourself. (Build your Scentsy empire!)

Today is a new day, isn’t it? You’re paradigm just shifted and now you can start learning what you need to learn so that you can sell Scents by selling your leadership and make some money!

  • Bronwen, this is an excellent article. I am not in the candle business however, these are great principles that I apply with my primary business. Let me tell you these activities are what makes your business grow.
    Look at yourself, are you the leader you would follow? Do you have the discipline and the determination to go through whatever it will take to get it done. Of course you do! Otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this.
    Work with those who want to grow, work with those who will work.
