We’ve been talking a lot about what it takes to get traffic and Scentsy leads… and being consistent. But now what?
You may be getting lots of traffic, and enough leads to keep you busy, but if you don’t know what to do with those leads you are stuck. Don’t stay stuck. What you need to do now is make a connection. There are just a few things to know about this step in the process, but it’s pretty much simple as long as you understand people and how to listen to their needs.
I’m not going to go into how to listen to your Scentsy leads in this article. I recommend reading up on personality types and listening skills for that sort of education. (Honestly though, you’re focus is to connect with the people who are drawn to your personality type. Those are the people whom you can jive with and the rest are really someone else’s crowd.)
Today we need to go over HOW you’re going to connect and a little bit about WHAT to say.
First of all, you should always leave a place for your lead to leave a phone number if they feel so inclined. This offers you a way to make that connection pretty easily and they’ll be expecting that you will call them at some point.
If they don’t leave a phone number then you can look them up by their email address in Facebook. These days people generally have a Facebook account and you can friend them and send them a facebook email. You’re job? Ask questions.
If you’re not asking questions that merit responses then you may not get a reply to your email. With all of the myriads of sales pitches destined to come in the direction of your leads on any given day you need to be the one who doesn’t sales pitch them right off the bat.
- In fact, you aren’t even going to treat these leads like they are your Scentsy leads. If you do they will run for the hills. But let me elaborate because you’re still going to want to ask them if they’re open to looking at what you’re doing – at the right moment.
Okay. You make a connection. Maybe it’s on Facebook and you send them a message. You may go back and forth for 5-10 days before you learn enough to know if they’re open to talking to you on the phone about marketing the business that they are with right now.
This is where you’re marketing system is very important. I say marketing system, but the technical term is “funded proposal”. Make sure you’re using a good one.
Once you get on the phone you are going to ask them about their situation a little bit more. You’re going to show them how to generate their own leads just like you are generating Scentsy leads.
Pretty soon about 20% of the people who you talk to will be loyal to you as their marketing teacher. There will be a point (and you’ll know the right moment if you pay attention) that you will ask them if they are open to looking at your opportunity to see if joining your team is an option for them so that you can take them under your wing more fully.
You won’t have time to spend lots of hours with people who you’re not making money from helping. This is business, after all. You have to be making your money.
You can be really creative with benefits of joining your team because you know how to generate Scentsy leads and give them the benefits of your experience, knowledge, and wisdom.
The difference is that you are going to get real results because you didn’t pounce on people to join your team the moment you opened your mouth. You listened and you connected first. You got the information that you needed to know how to help the people that you are trying to help.
