Rants

Hello my friend and welcome to my blog. If I can help in any way, give me a ring at 801-473-6134. And remember, "The task ahead of you is never as great as the power behind you"

Over the past week I’ve chatted with a few of my newest team-members/writers and they’ve expressed feelings of inadequacy.

“I want to write something that is really useful.”

“I want my article to help someone.”

Here is my response. Whatever you have to say is good enough. Just chill out and pretend you’re sitting across the desk from a new person – someone who has come to you for real help – and you, in your wisdom, are breaking down a single principle.

I started out with “how to” articles. They’re highly searched for, and if you give good tips then you’ll be accomplishing your goal.

Small bites, my friend. You’re adequate. I promise.

Sincerely,

I’ve been racing around today thinking about you and your leads as I went about the crazy daily routine that is my life as a mom / internet network marketer and I decided that this post had to be written.

We all have “stuff” to deal with.

Moms have busy kids who are into everything and it’s tough to sit at the computer for more than 5 minutes at a time sometimes.

Dads have their responsibilities as breadwinner, husband, father and whatever else they have to do in the community.

It’s tough to get business in when you think of it that way. So I want to suggest that you make a solid plan.

One thing I’ve picked up over the years of reading self help books and inspirational articles is that if there is no plan then you’re going to end up wherever the wind carries you.

I don’t really like that idea, do you?

So my plan has always been to get my business done today along with everything else that I have to do.

I want to tell you how busy I am because I want you to understand that your business really needs to fit into your day. You have complete control over it.

I’m the mother of three children under 7 years old. My youngest is 2. (She’s climbing on me as I write. But I’m still writing and she’s feeling loved at the same time.)

My oldest two are in private school and I’m the bus. I pick up two other kids who go to their school on our way. Their schedules aren’t the same. (CRAZY!)

I’ve got a huge team of marketers who call me throughout the day to get help (which is great!) and I fit them in everywhere I can.

There is no maid because I want to teach my kids how to work and that means I clean my own home and teach my kids to help me. It’s a lengthy process. They don’t always cooperate – you know how it goes, if you have kids.

My husband and I have a deal that I don’t do any work after 4pm in the afternoon and nothing on Saturday and Sunday. That’s family time. (This really works for us.)

When I was in set-up mode it took me a looooong time to get it done because I had to figure it out for myself and then create a training program… and then create my teams inside training program later on.

And guess what. It’s okay! It happened for me.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be super fast! (unless you’re on my team and then you know that it can be because of the system that my team follows.)

It just has to get done for the day.

If you’re in set up mode then just get your two or three hours in and get as much done as you can today. If you’re in marketing mode then get that article written, or that video made, and get a move on.

It doesn’t really take that long once you get the hang of how. And that shouldn’t take you more than one or two to really get it under your belt.

Make a plan. Then make a checklist. Man! That really helps me. I still make one every day.

Sincerely,

About the author

I’ve been watching a video about network marketing by my mentor, David Wood, (whom I duplicate in just about everything I do,) and he was talking about politics. He and I have a lot of the same feelings about our government-

-But the point of his message was the beauty of taking up our own flag and fixing our own problems and not letting someone else (like the health-care reform, etc.) tax the heck out of us and control us.

His video starts with him having a snake in his house. And he goes on to inspire us to do something about our lives and our income and our country! We should do something. (Now, David has a seriously foul mouth, so please forgive him for that. But his message is powerful and he’s standing up for what he believes.)

Now, he brings it back to network marketing as he talks about freedom, and control… or not allowing ourselves to be controlled. Did you realize that our situation is as bad as it is? Did you realize that the wealthy people in this country (this world) are the ones who have the means to collectively do something about it?

Now, I want to bring this back to my own point, because I do agree that we – the citizens of the world, should rise up some way, some how, and make a change – even if that change starts in our own homes, with our own situations, and then spread the love across our circle of influence.

I don’t think we have to become trouble makers to make a change in this world. (Although… you know… George Washington was a trouble-maker and he sure did change our whole country for the good way back then, didn’t he?)

What I believe is that we can each have an impact on the world around us by using our network marketing businesses.

Let me tell you a little story.

This is one of the reasons I really got serious about making this thing go and making a lot of money.

A few months before I started taking my business as seriously as I do my husband came home after listening to the news on his way home from the office and told me this story about a mother with a few young children who went to the park that morning.

The oldest was an 11 year old boy.

Well some insane, malicious person had poured a puddle of acidic chemicals at the base of the slide – on the slide where the child ends up sitting when he or she gets to the bottom. They poured a puddle for the next child who came down the slide. (Yes. I’m crying as I write this. It really impacts me!)

That sweet 11 year old boy was so excited to be the first kid to come down that slide that morning. He hooted with joy and went down the slide. A moment later he was screaming in agony and the skin on the backs of his legs and bum were eaten away.

How DARE someone do that to anyone! Let alone a child?

That’s when I committed to making a lot of money. I decided that if nothing else I could protect the children in my surrounding parks by placing security cameras around the parks. I don’t really know if I’ll be allowed to do it. Our government seems to protect the rights and privacy of the guilty rather than the innocent these days.

But I made a decision to do something. Network marketing was/is the only form of big business that I could get into, make money fast (respectively), and start making a difference in the world so that at the very least I could have on film the person who poured the next puddle of chemicals on the local park slide.

I want that guy caught. As it is, he got away.

Now, I’m sort of going off in a semi-negative way right now, but I want to drive home the point that without money there is no possible way I ever could have made a difference like I’m describing here.

We have a responsibility to make some changes around us.

You have a network marketing business. You’re an average person with big dreams. You’re financial goals matter more than you think they do. It’s time to make a push forward, don’t you think?
